S.P. SINGH, Former Member of the Legislative Council, UP (India)

Due to his fervent inclination towards quality education and service to the nation, he along with his erudite team, laid the foundation of Lucknow Public School in 1983 at Jail Road, Anand Nagar, Lucknow. In the opening year 500 students were hailed and enrolled. In the subsequent year, he purchased a building nearby vicinity for almost Rs.1.25 lakh which he had borrowed from his close associates. The initiation into quality learning that was done in 1983, has resulted now into 12 campuses at different locations in the city of Lucknow and rural areas in the districts like Hardoi (his home district), Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri and New Delhi, envisioning LPS branches in future in Dubai, Singapore and Maritius and so on. Currently Lucknow Public Schools & Colleges provides quality education to approximately 28000 students as per global needs through almost 1200 skilled faculties.This Lucknow Public Schools & Colleges has its own Degree college-LUCKNOW PUBLIC COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES(affiliated to University of Lucknow-www.lpcpsportal.com) at VINAMRA KHAND ,(OPP. KATHAUTA LAKE),GOMTI NAGAR, LUCKNOW,one of the best centres of higher learning in northern India. Be it ICSE/ISC, CBSE or UP Board, results of Lucknow Public Schools & Colleges have always been commendable. In UP Board LPS students have topped 11 times in the State. LPS CBSE branches also produce city toppers every year. In ISC Exams 2018, LPS broke all previous records of the results. Lipika Agarwal, one of its brightest as well as wisest students of LPS Lakhimpur Kheri branch topped in ISC Examination in India and abroad obtaining 99.50% marks and Nidhi Priya of LPC, Sahara States, Jankipuram branch who obtained 99.25% marks became the second topper in ISC-2018 in India and abroad. Many of its students who cleared IIT, NEET, CAT, CLAT, IAS, IFS, IES, IRS, PCS, PCS-J, NDA, CDS, CA, SCRA, AIIMS, SAT etc. are working in esteemed positions in India. Above 1500 alumni of LPS are working in USA, UK, China, Russia and so on. The Lucknow Public Schools & Colleges group has been flourishing by leaps and bounds due to its commendable results and lucrative placements of students.

When the people of Lucknow and Hardoi noticed his works and missionary zeal for quality education, they urged him to contest for the post of the Member of the Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh in 2002. He accepted the people's offer and contested for the same. Due to his humanitarian touch he became victorious. Representing the Lucknow Graduate Constituency that ranges in Lucknow, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Barabanki, Raebareli and Pratapgarh, he did the passionate advocacy of graduates on the floor of Upper House of UP State Assembly upto his two tenures- from 2002 to 2008 and again from 2008 to2014. In 2014 his spouse Mrs. Kanti Singh contested for the same seat and won. As an MLC, he utilized 100% of his discretionary funds for public welfare in his constituency. As a Member of the Legislative Council he visited each and every village of his constituency and helped the people every way. From his discretionary funds, he got constructed rooms in hundreds of schools, got constructed roads, arranged tin-sheds for learned lawyers in the courts and gave away solar lights in the villages. He helped those schools of far flung rural areas which were run under thatches. In fact, social responsibilities have been his prime concerns. He has always responded to the nation's call for help during any kind of natural calamity. A vehicle carrying relief material was sent to the Bhuj-Gujarat-earthquake victims. He donated Rs.5 lac towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for rebuilding of community such as schools and health care centres in the Tsunami affected areas. A large quantity of clothes and food items were sent along with a handsome amount to provide relief to the victims of flood in Araria and Madhepura in Bihar. When the torrential rain brought horrible havoc in Kedarnath, Rs.21 lac was given away to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister for the relief of flood victims.Recently he donated a DD of Rs 45 lakh to Hon'ble CM Kerala in Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund for the flood victims in 2018.

He heartily realizes that quality education for all is his social responsibiity, therefore he believes in expansion of his social responsibilities. Constantly contemplating on such thought he provides quality education to the slum area children who have been deprived of education due to any reason. At Lucknow Public Schools & Colleges, classes are run for such children and dresses and books are made available to them without charging any money. In winters, he distributes blankets, woollen clothes and sweaters to people in far-flung villages. He distributes sweaters to children in government as well as private schools.He distributes clothes, fruits and biscuits etc to divyang students too.Save Water Rally,No Polythene,Run for Unity,Mass Plantation Drive,Career counselling sessions for unemployed youth, Blood donation and Eye Check-up camps are conducted regularly by him. Soap distribution is his regular practice for the people for their health, sanitation and hygiene. To promote awareness towards cleanliness he distributes bath as well as washing soaps to the people.

He has been organizing career counselling sessions in rural areas to create an awareness in youth. He wrote a book for youth on career counselling, 'Sapne Aur Rozgar Ki Raahen' which was unveiled by Prof. R.P. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University. Its revised edition was published and unveiled by Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh Mrs Anandiben Patel on the Teacher's Day,5th September 2019.

He organized a two days National Children Science Festival - 2003 on 11th and 12th August, 2003 at Lucknow Public College, Sahara States, Jankipuram, Lucknow which was inaugurated by the then Hon'ble President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam with whom he earlier met at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 24th May 2003. Dr Kalam personally interacted with him for about half an hour when he met with him at esteemed Rashtrapati Bhawan.

He was on educational visits to Singapore and Thailand in 1996, USA, Japan and Malaysia in 1999, Hong Kong and Macau in 2014 , Mauritius and UAE in 2015 ,Singapore and Malaysia in 2017,Dubai,Maldives, Australia in 2018,and Italy,Germany,Czech Republic,Poland,Slovakia,Austria and Hungary in 2019. Previously he was nominated by the Government of Uttar Pradesh as one of the delegates to visit countries like Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and UK for parliamentary, socio-cultural and educational studies in 2003 and again to Denmark, Spain, The Russian Federation, UK, France and Austria in 2004.

He has been guiding and motivating a team of proficient and highly qualified teachers and taking care of Lucknow Public Schools & Colleges in the most suitable way. He has been feeling the pulse of the society and in the process, an attempt has always been made to unite individuals, so that one is capable of facing any challenge. The aim is to make one understand one's needs and accordingly learn to adjust in the society, keeping others welfare also in mind for a harmonious adjustment.

Honorary doctorate to SP Singh

A visionary educationist, SP Singh was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Swahili , Panama, Central America by Dr Jagannath Patnaik,Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University in a grand convocation ceremony organized on 19 th October 2019 at Taj Vivanta,Panaji,Goa. In the same event, he was given away the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Professional Excellence Award for social work by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Research Center.These honours have been conferred upon him for his special contribution in the field of quality education. On this occasion,Dr Rakhee P Kelaskar,former Dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Mumbai,Dr Sreeson Gopinath, Secretary of Centre for Educational initiative and Research,Dr B .Ebenezar, Chairperson-Hyderabad Chapter of Association of Indian Psychologists,Bhagyashree Patil,Vice Chancellor DY Patil University, Rajesh Ramdas ,Resident Representative of India ( University of Swahili), Narayan Reddy,famous educationalists from various places of the country,media persons and other dignitaries made their presence.

Dr S P Singh was awarded an other honorary doctorate for his social and educational services to humanity ,generating environmental awareness in the society ,by Global Truimph Virtual University in the Global Peace Conclave 2019 held at Holiday Inn , Aerocity, New Delhi on 30th of November 2019.
